One way to stay healthy is to keep your blood work up to date. By using those results, doctors can catch conditions such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and many others before they become evident to you. They also can tell doctors the function of your body and performance of your organs.
Physicians usually order routine blood work during your annual visit, but since blood work can be expensive, doctors may only order what is necessary. In many cases, the test order does not cover a few important markers for early detection of some diseases. For this reason, we offer HCCUA members an extensive Comprehensive Wellness Profile (CWP) as part of the membership.
This test is available at no additional cost to members after 180 days of a continuous, active membership in good standing.
The CWP consists of 50 individual blood tests that can help spot a wide variety of health problems. Early detection and treatment can save you money, prevent future health problems, and even save your life in extreme circumstances. The tests performed as part the profile consist of:
- Complete Blood Count (CBC)
- Lipid Profile (Cholesterol: HDL, LDL, Risk Ratio, and Triglycerides)
- Fluids and Electrolytes
- Glucose (Diabetes)
- Liver Panel
- Kidney Panel
- Thyroid Profile with TSH
- Bone and Minerals
The CWP also provides you with a thorough bio-chemical assessment of most major organ systems of your body.
Your health is extremely important to us! We suggest you call Member Services at 1-866-227-5400 to schedule your diagnostic screening today. Your CWP must be scheduled through Member Services prior to visiting the lab. We also advise that you fast for 8 hours prior to having your blood drawn. This means you should not eat or drink prior to your appointment. Fasting will ensure the test results are as accurate as possible.
It is also recommended that you schedule your annual physical shortly after receiving your results so you can go over all your levels with your physician.
