January 2022 Newsletter

Dear HCCUA Members,

Happy New Year! With all the things going on in our daily lives and around the world, it can be very easy to get overwhelmed or stressed out. Research shows that counseling enhances lives whether you’re old or young, male, or female, gay or straight, rich, or poor. Your educational background makes no difference either!

Talking is an important part of our relationships. It can strengthen your ties with other people and help you stay in good mental health. What is more, being listened to can help you feel that other people care about you and what you have to say.

Sometimes it is easier to talk to a stranger than to relatives or friends. During counseling, a trained counselor listens to you and helps you find your own answers to problems. A person that is not there to place any judgment on you and can help you sort out what can be done to make your life more peaceful.

The counselor will give you time to talk, cry, shout or just think. It is an opportunity to look at your problems in a different way with someone who will respect and encourage your opinions and the decisions you make.

Usually, you will talk one-to-one with a counselor. Sometimes, treatments are held in groups or in couples, such as relationship counselling or family counselling.

Although there are many different types of counselling, they all have a similar aim: to make you feel better. Some people say that counselling does not make their problems go away, but they find it easier to cope with them and feel happier.

As an HCCUA member you can fully utilize Licensed Clinical Counseling through Life Events that is offered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide you and your family members with free access to behavioral health experts anytime.

All calls are answered directly by licensed clinical staff and all services are handled with complete confidentiality. Each covered individual and eligible family member is entitled to unlimited telephonic counseling per episode.

Non-English-speaking members also have assistance available via bilingual staff and affiliates, as well as through an online translation service with capabilities in over 140 languages.

Counselors work with members every step of the way, from assessment, through recommendation and follow-up. If you feel this service will be to great use, please do not hesitate to contact the toll-free number at 1-888-866-7938. Please have your member number available.

At HCCUA we aim to help our members in any way possible, to aid in accessing quality health care, when and where needed, at a cost/benefit ratio that equals real value, and to provide strategies, products, and advice on reducing and containing health care costs.

Sincerely,

Kristine Eckardt, Director of Member Communications
