Ground Turkey Bolognese

INGREDIENTS

1 lb. angel hair pasta

1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil

1 large onion, chopped

1 large carrot, peeled and chopped

1 celery stalk, chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 lb. ground turkey

kosher salt

Freshly ground black pepper

1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes

1/2 c. dry white or red wine

1/4 c. freshly chopped parsley, plus more for garnish

2 tsp. dried oregano

freshly grated Parmesan, for serving

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook angel hair according to package directions until al dente. Drain and return to pot.
  2. Meanwhile, make bolognese: In a large skillet or pot over medium heat, heat oil. Add onion, carrot, celery, and garlic and cook until tender, 5 to 7 minutes. Add ground turkey and cook until no longer pink, 5 minutes more. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Add crushed tomatoes, wine, parsley, and dried oregano.
  4. Let simmer until thickened, 10 to 15 minutes.
  5. Toss with cooked angel hair.
  6. Garnish with Parmesan and parsley

Becoming aware of the major risk factors for these conditions can help prevent and control more people from suffering from these ailments. The first steps to reduce your risk are to talk with your health care professional about your heart health, get your blood pressure and cholesterol checked and make the effort to live a healthy lifestyle. High blood pressure and cholesterol are the leading causes of heart disease and stroke. Lifestyle choices include eating healthy, exercising regularly, and following your health care professional’s instructions about your medications all can help reduce heart disease and the risk of a stroke.

The Benefits of Regular Physical Activity

There are many reasons why exercise is beneficial to your life, but most importantly because it enhances your overall health and wellness. If you exercise frequently, it will help improve, maintain or prevent many health conditions and diseases such as obesity, strokes, metabolic syndrome, type two diabetes, depression, insomnia, dealing with some cancers, arthritis and injuries from falls. By exercising regularly, it can assist you in maintaining your current weight or help you lose weight.

Cream of Fresh Tomato Soup

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons good olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped red onions (2 onions)
  • 2 carrots, unpeeled and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (3 cloves)
  • 4 pounds vine-ripened tomatoes, coarsely chopped (5 large)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup packed chopped fresh basil leaves, plus julienned basil leaves, for garnish
  • 3 cups chicken stock, preferably homemade
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • Croutons, for garnish
