December 2020 Newsletter

Dear HCCUA Members:

Do you feel like your life is stuck on autopilot? You may have a good life, career, loving friends and family, even earn lots of money however if your routine is keeping you blue, it may be hard to keep a positive attitude. A positive attitude is time given to show appreciation towards the things in our lives that make us happy. Showing how thankful and grateful we are can put us in a better state of mind and allow us to enjoy life altogether. Remember the little things can sometimes be the biggest gifts in the world.

You are in control of your reactions. We all have challenges, and we are often tested by circumstances outside of our control. Even though you may not be in control of what is going on outside of you, you most definitely can control your reaction to those situations. Always try to be positive, even in the hardest times.

Nobody knows you better than you do. Stop identifying with other people’s opinions and become aware of how you see yourself. You should always believe that you can achieve anything you set your mind to and most importantly, never let another person’s opinion of you affect what you believe about yourself.

Don’t hold a grudge. By letting go of things that have hurt you in the past can make you feel empowered by your ability to demonstrate strength of character in humility and forgiveness, which can open the door to restore relationships and help you feel better about your magnanimous actions.

Complement others. Making a positive statement about a person’s appearance, attitude, health, or job performance can help make anyone feel better, and you will feel good, too, for improving a person’s day. Take in count, someone who feels appreciated will be and do more than expected.

Smiling is contagious and promotes good will as well as a favorable impression of the one wearing it. Practice your smile in front of the mirror until you find one you like, then share it frequently with those around you to demonstrate the power of positive thinking, as they probably will smile back, thus forcing friendly efforts.

Admire your surroundings. Find a comfortable seat outdoors and admire the scenery around you. Pastoral scenes help to rid your mind of stressful hormones and are conductive for helping you relax and feel good about nature and life.

Everything you need is right here. Cut out the distractions, open your eyes, and see that you already have everything in your possession to be happy, loved, and fulfilled. Always be yourself! Love yourself completely and accept everything that you are. You are wonderful! Believe it, and most importantly, remind yourself often!

All of the above are powerful tools to help you maintain a positive outlook on life and help you enjoy the moment, whether it is during a difficult time or through the year. It is important to love and believe in yourself to be the best person you can be!
