Physical Activity

We want you to get up! Get moving! Start doing something you enjoy! Moving around and stimulating your blood flow is important for your physical health. Life can take over and routines can settle in, but somewhere in that busy schedule you need to find time for exercise. Your long term health depends on it!

There are many reasons why exercise is beneficial to your life, but most importantly because it enhances your overall health and wellness. If you exercise frequently, it will help improve, maintain or prevent many health conditions and diseases such as obesity, strokes, metabolic syndrome, type two diabetes, depression, insomnia, dealing with some cancers, arthritis and injuries from falls. By exercising regularly, it can assist you in maintaining your current weight or help you lose weight.

It is proven that all you need is 30 minutes a day for physical activity to stimulate various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed. A work out does not necessarily mean you have to go to the gym every day. You can easily take stairs versus the elevator, amp up your chores around the house, or dancing, basically any intense physical activity to help you burn calories.

Many of us have multiple stresses throughout our day and a great way to release some of these stresses and build your endurance would be by putting time aside to unwind by performing the workout of your choice. It would even help you at night to fall asleep faster or deepen your sleep. In addition, exercise is a confidence booster. When people feel energized and good about themselves it shows in their attitude.

Furthermore, with such a high growing rate of child obesity it is a great idea to get children involved as well. Exercise can be fun for the whole family! It helps to be motivated when working out with others, who better than with your family. Some activities that can be fun for everyone include cycling, swimming, hiking or playing games like tennis or softball. Exercise can be as simple as walking your pet around the neighborhood every day.

At the end of the day, the mentality that one should have is that regular physical activity is a lifestyle not a chore. With this lifestyle comes proper nutrition, getting a full nights rest and attempting to keep stress levels down. So go out there and try different things you may like to get started, stay committed and have fun!
